You joined Freetrade at the end of last year. What made you want to work here?
I was keen to start with investing for a while, but it just seemed too complicated, and none of my friends could advise me how to get started. I ended-up investing with a robo-advisor.
Then Viktor, our CMO, reached out to me via LinkedIn as he was building the growth team, pitching the mission of Freetrade. I was blown away that such a company existed. I instantly wanted to be part of it. The role was perfect for me as well - a right mix of product and marketing.
What were you doing before you worked at Freetrade?
I was part of the growth team at Skyscanner, focusing on the growth in the UK market.
What do you do at Freetrade?
I am part of the growth team here, looking after a few areas of growth - the referral program, lifecycle communications and affiliate program, but in reality, supporting the team in all ways possible.
Can you give a (cool) example of what that means in practice?
I get to pick a list of free shares we reveal each week. 🍎
What’s been the biggest challenge since joining Freetrade?
Prioritisation. There are so many cool things we can do for our customers, but always need to face the reality of the team size and scope we can take on. This means we need to be really good at prioritising what to work on next.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve worked on?
There are so many! Redesigning our referral program is definitely one of them, but I also love learning about our customers, so talking to our customers whether via Zoom or the in-app chat has been great too.
You are from Lithuania originally, how did you end up in London?
I came to the UK to study many years ago. I lived in Scotland for 10 years - first Glasgow, and then Edinburgh, and came to love this country. London always looked intimidating, overcrowded and expensive, but I overcame the inertia of living in Scotland and moved down south for this job. I am so glad I did!
If you had a magic wand, what is the one feature on the app that you wish you could get done instantly?
I will be very biased here, but I would love to improve our referral program - allow tracking progress of all referrals and the ability to refer many friends to make the experience of referring friends much smoother. In terms of new features, though, it would be limit orders.
Lastly, and most importantly, what was the first thing you invested in when you got Freetrade?
I bought Zoom! You can tell I was still learning about investing when I first joined.
